Beyoncé picked up nine Grammy nominations in various categories, and with nominations in Pop, Rap/Sung, Rock, and Urban Contemporary categories, she became the first artist to be nominated in four different genre categories in the same year. However, she was also looking to pick up a country nomination. Although she submitted “Daddy Lessons” for consideration, the Recording Academy’s country music committee rejected the song, the Associated Press reports. Had it been accepted, it could have been eligible for Best Country Song or Best Country Solo Performance.
Beyoncé recently performed a new version of the Lemonade track with the Dixie Chicks at this year’s CMAs. Watch their performance below. They also released a studio version of the collaboration.
This year’s nominations bring Beyoncé’s career total to a whopping 62 Grammy nominations, making her the most-nominated female artist in history. Eight more wins will make her the most-awarded female artist in Grammy history (over Allison Krauss).
